• Nat Geo Channel launches fourth season of 'Nat Geo Moment' awards

    MUMBAI: In order to celebrate the power of photography to be able to capture a moment frozen in time, National Geographic Channel in association with HTC brings the fourth edition of its photography contest Nat Geo Moment Awards, powered by Reliance 3G.

    The competition this year will be judged by renowned photographer, filmmaker and conservationist Mike Pandey. As part of the association, National Geographic Channel will also contribute to the photographer?s NGO, Earth Matters foundation.

    This year, Nat Geo Moment Awards entries will also be open for a people?s choice awards where the picture with the maximum votes will get a chance to win Reliance Tablets.

    Interested participants can submit their entries, through a special Moment Awards application on Facebook in five categories namely Culture, People, Landscape, Wild and a brand new category, HTC candid shots.

    NGC Network India, Fox International Channels VP marketing, communication Debarpita Banerjee said, "All of us have an innate desire to capture our favorite moments and share our view of the world with others. Through Moment Awards, we hope to encourage creativity and bring out the talent of a million amateur and aspiring photographers in the country. The contest is not about technical finesse but about a moment which can be very simple and touching."

    HTC introduced the One Series of smartphones with amazing camera and authentic sound capabilities providing premium mobile experience. In its previous season, the contest received entries from both professional and amateur photographers.

    Nat Geo Moment Awards provides a platform to showcase the creativity of photography enthusiasts across the country. This year the contest will give the winner, the recently launched HTC One Smartphone and their dream holiday to South Africa to pursue their passion in one of the most picturesque countries of the world.

  • NGC launches action-themed shows with IPL in mind

    MUMBAI: National Geographic Channel will have shows around the action theme this month. Every day at 3 pm and 11 pm, viewers can watch the Deadly Ninjas, Lethal Samurai, Polar bears on prowl, and legendary fighter Bruce Lee pack in the real punches.

    From the clash of the Spartans with the Ninjas to the techniques that the king of Kung fu used, to making martial art one of the most fascinating combination of art and science - the programming lineup will give viewers access to relentless action, before, after and in between the battles on the cricket field.

    Built for the Kill, which airs from 23 April Monday-Friday at 3 pm, will focus on brutal predators, in the animal kingdom, as they go for the kill. Bruce Lee lives airs from 16- 20 April at 10 pm. This is a documentary about the Martial Arts? instructor.

    ?The Deadliest Warrior? airs from Monday - Friday at 11 pm. Warriors from Spartans to Attila the Hun - they will be pitted against each other for the coveted title of the Deadliest Warrior.

  • Fox Traveller to start 24-hr Bengali feed from 15 January

    MUMBAI: Travel and lifestyle channel, Fox Traveller, will start a 24-hour Bengali language feed starting 15 January next year.

    Presently the Bangla feed is available for four hours during primetime (8-12 pm). The channel believes that with this development Fox Traveller will be able to reinforce connect with Bengali speaking audiences.

    Fox International Channels VP - marketing Debarpita Banerjee said, "Bengalis love the good life- full of food, music, art, travel, and we have plenty of glimpses of this kind of a lifestyle on Fox Traveller. The channel believes that only showcasing destinations are pass? and unfolds stories that make a journey beautiful and fun. And now the bangla feed will enable us to capture the lyricism of this language and build it into our content, bringing it closer to the audience."

    The channel will now be available in Bengali feed along with Hindi, English and Tamil across all DTH platforms and through and cable network operators.
