Top Gun creator Tony Scott commits suicide
MUMBAI: Filmmaker Tony Scott ‘Top Gun‘ has committed suicide by jumping from a Los Angeles County Bridge.
MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media?s English movie channel Pix?s business head Sunder Aaron has put in his papers and is serving his notice period.
An industry source confirming the news said that Aaron was the one who spearheaded the channel which started out in 2006 by showing library content.
Pix moved on to telecast premieres last year after it got the Sony library which was earlier with HBO.
Aaron joined MSM in 2002. He was earlier in Los Angeles with Sony Pictures Television International.
MUMBAI: CNN has appointed Ann Chu as director - partner solutions group, CNN Advertising Sales Asia Pacific.
Chu will be based in Hong Kong and will report to CNN advertising sales Asia Pacific VP William Hsu. She will be responsible for generating and managing sponsorship opportunities and projects across the region.
Hsu said, "Ann?s experience in both the newsgathering and content sales functions position her extremely well to provide our clients with first-in-class sponsorship solutions. As the CNN ad sales team in Asia continues its solid sales performance this year, we look forward to Ann?s continued commitment to the network and our clients."
Chu brings in over a decade of experience. She was most recently the executive director of CNN broadcast sales and affiliate relations, responsible for managing sales and support of the network?s broadcast services to networks across the region. Prior to joining CNN, Chu had also worked at MTV Asia and Dreamworks in Los Angeles.
MUMBAI: The 2012 MTV Movie Awards, which took place in Los Angeles? Gibson Amphitheatre, had unexpected moments from a stage fashioned as a futuristic drive-in, immersing fans in the magic of the movies. Master of Ceremonies Russell Brand set the tone for a night of surprise moments and wins as well as electric musical performances.
Among the moments was an introduction by Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry of Johnny Depp, the recipient of this year?s Generation Award, right before the Oscar nominated actor shocked the audience by strapping on his guitar and joining The Black Keys for a no-holds-barred rendition of the rock duo?s ?Gold On the Ceiling? into ?Lonely Boy?.
?The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1? won the award for best film and another for best kiss. The most wins of the night went to ?The Hunger Games? with four wins for Best Female, Best Male, Best Fight and Best On-Screen Transformation categories, followed by ?Bridesmaids? with two awards.
In a fitting close to the Harry Potter franchise, Emma Watson was on-hand to accept Best Cast and the first-ever socially voted Best Hero popcorns for ?Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2?. First-time Movie Awards winner Shailene Woodley was chosen by a special academy of film directors as this year?s Best Breakthrough Performance winner for ?The Descendants?.
Emma Stone was honoured with the inaugural MTV Trailblazer Award, which went off the rails when the presentation turned into a roast featuring Octavia Spencer, Jim Carrey, Mila Kunis, Anna Faris, Steve Carell and Jason Sudeikis.
Wiz Khalifa performed his new single ?Work Hard, Play Hard?, inside his very own house party, complete with kids dancing, and streamers and red cups flying. Throughout the telecast, DJ Martin Solveig looked to re-invent classic movie soundtracks, bringing a beat to everything from ?Jaws? to ?Pulp Fiction? to ?Star Wars?.
