MUMBAI: Asian satellite operator Asiasat and pan Asian broadcaster Star have announced that the broadcaster will be utilising Asiasat 2 C-band capacity to provide programming primarily for backup services.
Star is currently using C-band capacity on AsiaSat 3S to offer over 50 television channels in eight languages to audiences in more than 50 countries and regions across the Asia Pacific. The use of additional Asiasat 2 capacity enables Star to provide dual broadcast capability for some of its key channels.
Under the terms of agreement, AsiaSat will also provide backup uplinking services to STAR for the AsiaSat 2 capacity, in addition to the existing arrangement of emergency uplinking services to AsiaSat 3S.
