NEW DELHI: All India Radio (AIR) may soon get a full fledged director general (DG), a post that has been lying vacant for quite sometime now with Prasar Bharati CEO KS Sarma doubling up as the DG AIR too.
The Prasar Bharati board yesterday interviewed two candidates, but did not take any final decision. The two candidates interviewed were Doordarshan's deputy director generals Thalangthanga and PK Singson, who is stationed at Doordarshan's Guwahati centre
Incidentally, the latter, who headed the Guwahati centre, had been questioned for his inaction after Prasar Bharati sometime back suspended B Chakrabarty, director, programme production centre, Doordarshan, Guwahati,
on reports of irregularities.
The Prasar Bharati board, which met over two days, also discussed various other issues DD's forays into KU-band DTH service, problems relating to the news division.
A presentation was also made by the advertising agency chosen to do the creatives for DD as part of a media campaign.
