MUMBAI: National creative head of Entertainment Network India Limited (which runs FM radio station Radio Mirchi) Sunil Sajhwani put in his papers on Monday.
Sajhwani, who joined as the national programming head 28 months ago and was later promoted as national creative head, was responsible for launching the seven Radio Mirchi stations in the country. A media veteran ( he has over 20 years of experience in film and television), Sajhwani says he learnt a lot from radio, but had started 'missing the visual medium'.
After leaving ENIL formally on 31 December, Sajhwani plans to take a month long break and is then likely to join Percept D' Mark's feature film division, the Percept Picture Company. Maintaining that it was a 'fantastic experience' working with ENIL head A P Parigi, who he calls his mentor, Sajhwani says it was quite an emotional decision to leave the Times group.
Sajhwani started his career in 1978 with Prahlad Kakkar, with whom he worked for five years, worked with adman Kailash Surendranath for a few years, as also with filmmaker Govind Nihalani, before moving on to R K Swamy BBDO. Sajhwani was also programming director at ETC and also had a stint at Reliance.
The turning point in his career was the hugely popular countdown show BPL Oye, which he directed for Channel [V].
