MUMBAI: With a view to promoting excellence in journalism, CNN and Korean organisation YBM/Si-sa have announced the launch of 'Aspiring Journalist Award 2005' competition in Korea. In India, CNN's Young Journalist Award competition is in its second year.
The competition offers the winners a chance to win an all expenses paid trip to CNN and is open to Korean nationals, who have no prior professional journalism experience. The top four finalists will win a week's trip to CNN’s Atlanta headquarters and its fully integrated regional newsroom in Hong Kong.
The study tour offers the winners an overview of how the broadcaster operates, from newsgathering to programme production and distribution. The winners will also meet with CNN International’s anchors and journalists and learn more about the life as professional journalists.
To qualify for the competition, entrants must be undergraduate students or degree holders (or above) and must demonstrate English proficiency and express a keen interest in journalism and domestic and international news. Since its foundation in 1961, YBM/Si-sa has devoted itself to the development of English education in Korea.
