MUMBAI: Al Jazeera's English-language satellite news channel service has inducted Elizabeth Filippouli as their Doha news anchor. With the aim of servicing the international audience, the English service is recruiting professionals from across various news channels across the world.
Elizabeth Filippouli joins the channel from the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation in Greece where she worked for fourteen years as a news producer, anchor and also feature shows presenter.
Filippouli will be a news anchor at the channel's headquarters in Doha, one of Al Jazeera International's four regional broadcast centres strategically placed across the world. The other centres are in Kuala Lumpur, London and Washington DC.
She specializes in international issues and political interviews and has interviewed a number of high level personalities from around the world including Ted Turner, James Rubin, Dr Deepak Chopra, Mohamed El Baradei, Chris Cramer, Al Gore, Susan Sarandon, Christianne Amanpour, Peter Arnett and Sheikh Omar Backer Mohammed.
Earlier, the English news channel has roped in big faces such as the television host, author and producer Sir David Frost as a presenter and CNN anchor Riz Khan.
