Mumbai: As per the latest data released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc), CNN–News18 has again topped the English news genre with 43.1 per cent market share in India’s TG 2+ segment. As per the data, the channel is 146 per cent ahead of Times Now and its market share is larger than that of Times Now and Republic TV combined.
CNN News18 outperformed top news channels such as Republic TV, Times Now, Mirror Now, India Today TV and others with a market share of 43.1 per cent (Barc; market share per cent 24 hrs, TG: 2+, India, Wk04’23, All days).The market share of Republic TV stood at 23.5 per cent, whereas the market share of Times Now was at 17.5 per cent, Mirror Now stood at 11.0 per cent and India Today TV at 4.8 per cent. The channel also remained ahead of its competition during the coveted prime time hours.
As per the ratings, (Barc; market share per cent 1800 to 2300 hrs, TG: 2+, India, Wk 04’23, All days) CNN News18 is 124 per cent ahead of Times Now as it secured 38.4 per cent market share, followed by Republic TV with 27.5 per cent market share, whereas Times Now stayed behind at 17.2 per cent. CNN News18 has been the industry leader since the resumption of Barc’s viewership data in March 2022 and has consistently outperformed its competitors.
