NEW DELHI: Telecom regulatory Authority of India today came out with a draft of the inter-connect regulations.
TRAI had, on 1 October, sent its recommendations on broadcasting and distribution of cable television to the Government. In the recommendations, reference was made to inter-connection regulations, which the authority had proposed to issue later.
Subsequently, suggestions have been made on the inter-connection regulation. Since regulation for non-discriminatory access of TV channels is a major step in the reforms of distribution of TV channels and this regulation will have far reaching and long term impact on the growth of the industry, the TRAI has decided that before finalising the regulation it will be appropriate that all stake holders are given an opportunity to comment on the draft regulation.
The stake-holders are requested to provide comments
by 5 November, 2004. The regulation will then be finalised after taking into account these comments.
