BBC WORLDWIDE LOOKS AT NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNIES

BBC Worldwide

BBC Worldwide is looking at further strengthening its presence in India. Apart from its 24 hour TV news service BBC World and Discovery joint venture Animal Planet, the company has a strong following for its radio service, and a publishing presence.

Now, BBC Worldwide is examining the launch of its education channel targeted at the Indian viewer. Additionally, the company wants to push its program catalogue and footage in a big way to Indian channels, media agencies, and large advertisers. BBC Worldwide Regional consultant (business development - India) Monisha Shah is currently in India on a two week trip exploring the opportunities that her company can exploit. Says she: "The BBC has had historical ties with India. Hence we expect the market to respond well to our products. We want to develop sustainable relationships and are particularly interested in the public broadcaster DD."
