MUMBAI: Television software company Nimbus will add four shows to the existing 20 sponsored programmes it markets by the end of the third quarter.
Two of the new shows will appear soon on pubcaster Doordarshan's National Network.
Down south, Nimbus has capitalised on the success of its show Nagamma which has entered its third year of telecast on Gemini TV. The socio mythological, launched on a Sunday night slot, traditionally a low viewership timeband, has been among the top three three shows on Gemini for some time, says Nimbus MD and CEO Akash Khurana.
The success of Nagamma in Telugu prompted Nimbus to remake the show in Kannada for Udaya TV. The show, on air for over 12 weeks now, has also made it to the top three shows on the channel, says Khurana. The production house now plans to remake the programme in Tamil and Malayalam to be aired on the Tamil language Sun TV and Malayalam language Surya TV.
Nimbus, which plans to take up the comedy genre on television seriously in the near future, has launched My Dear Bhootam with Sa Re Ga Ma on Sun TV in the 6.30 pm slot and managed to fetch the highest ratings for any show in that slot on Sun. Nimbus and Sa Re Ga Ma now plan to make a Telugu version of My Dear Bhootam for Gemini TV shortly.
On the terrestrial front, Nimbus is also present in the DD Thiruvanthapuram channel with its highest rated daily, Allakal, claims the company.
