MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television Asia (SET Asia) recently launched in Germany following the signing of a distribution deal with the pay-TV platform Decimus GmbH of Mainz-based cable operator Primacom. The announcement was made by SET Asia executive vice-president international business Rajan Singh.
Singh said, "There is a huge Asian community in Germany and SET Asia is now very pleased to be able to bring them the quality programming that millions around the world already enjoy. Viewers in Germany will be in for a real treat straight away as we present India, Pakistan and Australia live and exclusive in the Videocon Cricket Cup from 21 August."
Decimus GmbH managing director Stephan Königfeld said, "We are happy to add SET Asia's programme colour to our bouquet, as the general interest in Bollywood films, South Asian serials and music goes further than just the South Asian community in Germany."
As per the deal, from 1 August 2004, SET Asia has been available as an à la carte premium service priced at 9.95 euros per month. During August, the channel will be available free-to-air. After this promotional free month, viewers would have to subscribe to the channel via Primacom.
