MUMBAI: Brandy & Whiskers, the latest Disney series to hit Indian television screens is the quintessential heartwarming buddy-comedy about a pampered pooch and an excitable, offbeat rabbit who must form a friendship while surviving their comical misadventures after they fall out of an airplane in the Amazon rainforest.
The series will go on air this September on Saturdays and Sundays at 6 pm.
Created by Russell Marcus and produced by Walt Disney television animation, the series features multiple levels of comedy, gags and humor for kids and families.
This award winning series has bagged the 32nd Annual Annie Awards (for ‘Storyboarding in an Animated Television Production and Writing in an Animated Television Production’) and 2005 Daytime Emmys (Outstanding Achievement in Animation: Juried Award) apart from the huge fan-following it has among kids across the globe.
The story of Brandy & Whiskers begins on an ill-fated flight to Rio, where Brandy is heading with her human family to enjoy a relaxing spa vacation. Although she is accustomed to the first class cabin, a travel glitch transfers her to the cargo hold where she encounters Mr. Whiskers.
Although Brandy finds his untidiness repulsive, the happy-go-lucky hare thinks he's made his first friend ever. In an attempt to provide his new buddy with some light to read, Mr. Whiskers accidentally flips on the switch to the cargo door and without warning, the two are unexpectedly thrown out of the plane.
After rapidly descending to the middle of the rainforest, Brandy is appalled that her new home is devoid of luxury - and full of dirt. Despite their vast differences (Brandy is smart, bossy and from an upper middle-class family while Mr. Whiskers is goofy, has lived in zoos, laboratories and suburban homes, and has questionable hygiene at best), the duo develops a brother/ sister relationship as they embark on this new adventure together and try to find a way home.
While on their jungle escapades, they meet a colorful bunch of creatures native to the Amazon. Among them are Lola the boa, a conflicted snake with self-esteem issues; Ed, a folksy, simple river otter who is much more at home in the water than he is on land and winds up as Mr. Whisker's best friend; Meryl and Cheryl, twin toucans who constantly bicker; Margo, a sophisticated stick bug who looks up to Brandy and often feels the jungle crowd is beneath her; and Gaspar le gecko, an egotistical, self-appointed ruler of the jungle.
