MUMBAI: The tooing and froing of personnel from the news channels continues. Leading Hindi news channel Aaj Tak's senior manager distribution Anoop Varma has called it quits.

Varma put in his papers almost a month ago and has joined a UK based telecommunication company Atlas, as vice-president.

Varma's resignation came soon after he was made senior manager, hotel & institutional sales. Prior to that, Varma was senior manager network development for North and East Zone.

"Growth in Aaj Tak had become stagnant after a while. So I decided to move on. Meanwhile, I got an offer from a UK based telecommunication company. While I was offered a good profile, it also helped that the job required me to visit Europe often. My mother stays in Europe and it meant that I could visit her more often," offered Varma.

Prior to working with Aaj Tak, Varma was working with the Star Movies distribution team in 1995 as area sales manager. After a four-year stint, he joined Aaj Tak in 1999, he said. He has been with the news channel ever since it used to run just a news programme on state-run Doordarshan.
