MUMBAI: BBC World has admitted to have been tricked into airing an interview with a man pretending to be a spokesman of the Dow Chemical group.
The hoax started when a man claiming to be identified as Jude Finisterra, said that the company was giving a the victims of the Bhopal tragedy $ 12 billion compensation.
The prank occurred on the 20 th anniversary of Bhopal tragedy, the chemical leak from the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal. Dow Chemical took over Union Carbide in 2001.
According to media reports, BBC World said it had been deceived and of course, the BBC is investigating how the deception happend.
