NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today admitted a petition seeking that direct-to-home (DTH) services available in the country be probed over what was termed the easy availability and accessability of channels with pornographic content on DTH platforms.
The Government of India (as the responsible authority) and Zee Telefilms (as the promoter of the only private DTH service in the country at present) have been made parties to the case. The petition was filed by communications expert and noted psephologist Dr N Bhaskar Rao, who runs the Delhi-based media watchdog Centre for Media Studies (CMS). The petition was filed in Dr Rao's individual capacity.
The government's counsel, in its response asked for a month's time to revert to the court on the matter.
