NEW DELHI: It's not only the sports channels and pubcaster that are falling over themselves to telecast cricket. News channels have also devised ways to latch on to the cricket bandwagon.

In this context, Star News is turning its popular cricket-related programme, Match Ke Mujrim (MKM), live for The Indian Oil Cup tri-nation cricket series starting on Saturday in Sri Lanka.

MKM has the general public interacting with on-ground cricket experts while airing their own views instead of just listening to expert comments.

For the tri-series, MKM will be held at popular heritage and cricketing venues across Pune, Aurangabad, Vadodara, Bhopal and Delhi, according to an official statement from Star News.

The programme debuted during the Indo-Pak cricket series in March this year and is held after each India match where the audience will get an opportunity to probe, scrutinize, commend and condemn teams and players on their performances.

Former spin maestro, the outspoken Bishen Singh Bedi, will play the role of 'Public Prosecutor' and stand in for the audience, bowling his googlies to the panel, while former wicket keeper Syed Kirmani will bat for the Indian team.

The programme received a tremendous response from the viewers when it first went on air, Star News has said, claiming it was one of the most popular programme of its genre.
