MUMBAI: The legendary superstar of the sixties, Rajesh Khanna will be conferred Lifetime Achievement Award at the sixth Bollywood Award 2004 and the Lifetime of Glamour award at the fourth Kingfisher Bollywood Fashion Awards.
Both these events will be held at The Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Organised by South Asians living in America, both the annual Bollywood Awards and the Kingfisher Bollywood Fashion Awards, honour movie and fashion artists from India for outstanding performances during the prior year.
Born as Jatin Khanna in Amritsar, on 29 December 1942, and affectionately called as 'Kaka', the yesteryears star won many accolades for his performances in movies like Anand, Bawarchi, Namak Haram, Daag, Aan Milo Sajna, Aap ki Kasam and Mehbooba. After his successful stint in films, he joined the political brigade. He contested and won election from a Delhi constituency and become a member of the parliament.
According to Bollywood Fashion Awards founder Sonia Dandona, "Ravishing stars, hot models, stylish celebrities, and awesome performances... It's going to be a spectacular night."
The Kingfisher Bollywood Fashion Awards and the Bollywood Awards (movie) will be held on Friday, 30 April and Saturday, 1 May at the Xanadu and the Mark G Etess Arena respectively, says an official press release.
Commenting on the Kingfisher Bollywood Fashion Awards 2004, the UB Group Chairman Dr Vijay Mallya said, "The Kingfisher Bollywood Fashion Award is yet another step in the direction of keeping its commitment and promoting fashion not just in India but internationally. These awards provide a platform for Indian designers and Indian fashion to be showcased internationally."
Besides several Bollywood actors including Sunjay Dutt, Kareena Kapoor, Urmila, Bipasha, Hema Malini and Shankar Mahadevan, the event also boasts of attendance from several international stars.
