MUMBAI:Star News India has won the International Children's Day of Broadcasting (ICDB) Award conferred jointly by UNICEF and International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATA & A).
The award which was given at the 30th International Emmy Awards Gala held in New York makes Star News the first Indian channel to win an Emmy Award, states an official release.
Star News India, emerged winner among 30 other TV broadcasters who were vying for the award. The other three finalists were a three-time winner of the ICDB Award -TV Cultura from Brazil, last year's winner Canal Capital from Colombia and first time nominee Channels Television from Nigeria.
"We're extremely proud of this award as it is for the first time an Indian channel has won the award and we are the recipients. This only goes to show that children's voices and issues are reaching out to global audiences," Star India, COO Sameer Nair, is quoted as saying in the release.
