MUMBAI: As an answer to MTV's dominant music video and pop culture programming, leading record label company Universal Music Group is planning to launch a music channel that will show uncensored videos.
Reuters, quoting a report in the Los Angeles Times Universal, a unit of Vivendi Universal, says talks are on with satellite broadcaster DirecTV and business partners of Vivid Entertainment Group - a high-flying porn video company - for starting a subscription-based music channel called '1 AM'.
DirecTV, which is now controlled by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., is considered to be the largest satellite broadcaster in the US with 12 million subscribers. Vivid Entertainment Group is known for porn videos such as 'Bad Wives' and 'Women In Uniform.'
