CBS renews 'Amazing Race' for a fifth season

MUMBAI: US broadcast network CBS has given the producer of The Amaing Race Jerry Bruckheimer the go ahead for a fifth edition.
In India the show airs on AXN. The show features two-person teams trotting the globe for a $1 million prize. The show's executive producer Bertram van Munster had intimated to Variety that a new route was being worked upon. Major changes are in the pipeline to keep the show fresh. However the basics will remain unchanged.
Ever since the show triumphed at the 55th Primetime Emmy Awards in the reality category Bruckheimer has been after CBS executives to give the show another season. At the Emmies it defeated Survivor and Fox's American Idol. The fourth edition of the show saw gay couple Chip and Reichen crossing the finish line in Phoenix ahead of their competitors. India was one of the destinations visited along with Europe, Malaysia, Korea and Australia.
