MUMBAI: Google has added another feather to its cap. The company which recently became the world's most valuable media company at a valuation of $80 billion has hired Vinton Cerf as its chief Internet evangelist.
Cerf is often referred to as the "father of the Internet". He was awarded the National Medal of Technology by the then US President Bill Clinton in 1997. Cerfv is recognised as a founding fatherof the Internet for his work as a co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols that developed the architecture of the Net. Google recognises that Cerf's vision for technology helped create entire industries that have transformed many parts of our lives,
Media reports indicate that Cerf is said to be particularly interested in software that makes creative use of the sea of data available on the Internet. In Cerf's opinion, Google is a leading innovator in search and in applications that run on desktops accessing the company's services from the edge of the Internet.
