Anti-Moratorium plea withdrawn by Kannada theaters

BANGALORE: Cauvery and Vaibhav, the two theaters that had sought an interim order from the Karnataka High Court (HC) against the three week moratorium on non-Kannada films have decided to withdraw their plea challenging the moratorium. The High Court had directed the police to offer them protection.
 
 

The theater owners are well aware that withdrawal of their petition would result in re-introduction of the moratorium, but have not made their reasons for the withdrawal public.

The happenings in the drama of screening of non-Kannada films has taken yet another convoluted turn with a similar occurrence at the Supreme Court, where the main petitioner Gemini films has also decided to withdraw their case there against the moratorium.
 
 

The Kannada Film Producers Association which had been instrumental in implementation of first the twelve then the seven week moratorium which was later reduced to three weeks on intervention of political leader has decided to adopt a wait and watch attitude and plan to agitate for re-imposition of the moratorium after their association elections scheduled for the month of February.
