NEW DELHI: Pubcaster Doordarshan is yet to revert to Ten Sports on an offer made by the Dubai based broadcaster relating to the forthcoming India Sri Lanka cricket series.
According to Prasar Bharati CEO KS Sarma, the proposal is still being examined.
As per the offer, Ten Sports is ready to provide the cricket feed on DD's 250 odd low power transmitters (LPTs), which cater mostly to non-cable areas.
The integrated receiver decoders (IRDs) would be supplied by Ten Sports. This in effect means that DD would be just relaying the Ten feed through the boxes on its LPT areas.
Ten has also offered a highlights package for the LPT areas and DD's national channel.
Simultaneously Ten has said it is ready to do the marketing for the highlights package on DD where the revenue would be equally shared between the two parties.
A similar offer had been made by Ten Sports to DD during India's historic tour of Pakistan in 2004. That offer then was rejected by DD and subsequently the courts has to intervene to resolve the matter (in DD's favour pending a final decision of the Supreme Court. Which incidentally still pending - the final ruling that is).
