MUMBAI: Sports marketing agency IEC in Sports has announced a two year deal regarding Portuguese football..
IEC will distribute the 2004/5 and 2005/6 Portuguese Super League Soccer Championships to broadcasters in a number of key territories around the world.
Under the terms of the agreement, IEC will distribute the League in most of Europe, Asia and into further selected territories. This is the first time IEC in Sports represent a complete football league from one of sport`s strongest nations.
Thanks to a host broadcasting arrangement, international television stations will have the chance to choose from more than 130 live matches each season. In addition, IEC has teamed up with one of its longstanding production partners for the special 'PortuGol'. The weekly highlights show will be available to broadcasters from each of the 34 weeks of the Championships.
IEC in Sports CEO Jonas Persson added, "'IEC is focusing more and more on football. For the first time, we are distributing a complete league from one of the best footballing countries in the world', commented.
"Over the past few years, we have increased our presence in international football with a series of summer tours, the popular Carlsberg Cup in Hong Kong and a number of World Cup qualifiers in Asia", .
IEC is hoping that the performance of Portugal in Euro 2004 and the showing of FC Porto, who dominated European football last year by capturing the Uefa Champions League will see greater interest from broadcasters in the Super League event.
