MUMBAI: Looking to further cement its relationship with hockey Ten Sports has taken the exclusive rights to show the Sultan Aslan Shah hockey in India. The seven nation event takes place from 8-18 January 2004.
The tournament will feature both India and defending champions Pakistan in their last clash before the Olympic qualifiers in March. World Champions Germany, Asian Games champions South Korea, Australia, Spain, and Malaysia make up the rest of a strong field. The Bukhatir broadcaster will show 21 of the 24 games live with highlights of all games.
The broadcaster' s programming VP Peter Hutton added, "it's a great acquisition for us and further cements our relationship with quality international hockey. We've been thrilled with the response to the telecasts of the Champions Trophy hockey events on Ten Sports, and now we're looking forward to a great year of hockey on the channel"
Ten Sports will also show exclusive live coverage of India and Pakistan's attempts to qualify for the Olympics in the March qualifying tournament in Spain as well as the Mens Champions Trophy from Lahore in December and the Womens Champions Trophy from Argentina in November.
2004 promises to be a bonanza year for the channel with Saurav's boys visiting Pakistan. The channel will also showcase Australia and South Africa touring Sri Lanka as well as England's tour of the West Indies.
