NEW DELHI: Doordarshan's special audience channel, DD Bharati, is participating in an international children's environmental project, in partnership with Japan's broadcasting corporation, NHK and five other Asian broadcasting organisations.
The project "Voyage to the Future" is conceived as a global educational event aimed at creating awareness about environment for a better future. DD Bharati's contribution to the project is a film on children learning about water conservation through traditional Indian methods, which will be screened at the venue.
The climax of the event is an actual voyage of 42 children (six from each of the seven partner nations) on board a ship from Okinawa to Yokohama. The six children representing India will be sent off by Doordarshan at 5 pm on 25 July 2003 from the India International Centre, New Delhi.
