MUMBAI: Nimbus Communications has promised a minimum guarantee revenue of Rs 204.3 million to Doordarshan for the matches to be aired on DD, including the deferred telecast on DD Metro and highlights of each match.
According to a government response to a starred query in the Lok Sabha last week, Nimbus has provided Prasar Bharati with bank guarantees of Rs 204.3 million, which may be encashed if the aggregate Minimum guarantees applicable for the series are not met.
While Nimbus Communication Ltd will be paid commission not exceeding to 15 per cent of the advertising revenue, additional airtime beyond 7,200 seconds sold will fetch Prasar Bharati Rs 60,000 (net) per second within the match and Rs 15,000 (net ) per 10 seconds outside the match, according to the reply.
According to the tripartite agreement signed on 11 September 2002 between Global Cricket corporation Pvt. Ltd , Nimbus Communication Ltd. and Prasar Bharati, GCC is the terrestrial rights holder for ICC Global Cricket Corporation Cricket Tournament up to 2007. Nimbus Communication Ltd has been selected as a revenue nmanagaement company by GCC, the reply states.
Of the 16 matches of World Cup to be telecast live on DD-1, the six India matches will fetch the pubcaster a minimum revenue of Rs 75 million, while the seven non India matches will fetch Prasar Bharati a minimum revenue of Rs 70 million.
Minimum guarantees will be the net amount, excluding service tax and agency commision for marketing, and all taxes are to be borne by GCC.
