LONDON: The BBC World Service website (bbcworldservice.com) won an EPpy Award, given by editorandpublisher.com, for Best Overall Network or Syndicated Radio-Affiliated Internet Service. The EPpy awards honour the best web work by media companies.
The other finalists in the category Best Overall Network or Syndicated Radio-Affiliated Internet Service category were ESPNRadio.com and Netmio.com. The best overall network TV/Cable-Affiliated Internet service went to CBSNews.com. The other nominees were HGTV.com and MSNBC.com

In addition to providing world class, continuously updated news and information, BBC World Service offers sites of significant depth in 43 languages including English. It is no surprise that the recent war in Iraq generated a surge of traffic to BBC World Service sites with traffic nearly doubling during the last two weeks in March."
ESPN.com came on top in the best Internet sports service (over one million unique visitors). The other nominees were azcentral.com, USAToday.com and washingtonpost.com MSNBC.com was recognised for its usage of rich media in an internet Service (over 1 million monthly visitors)
The 2003 EPpy Awards were presented in San Diego at the Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show sponsored by Editor and Publisher and Mediaweek magazines.
