MUMBAI: There is no bigger draw in sport as far as India is concerned than India cricket. From today Saurav's boys seek to gain revenge over the thrashing they had received in New Zealand not too long ago. ESPN Star Sports (ESS) will have highlights of each day of the two test match series.
One hopes for the broadcasters sake that it is much better than the specials they had before and after each World Cup match in March where the experts cracked inane jokes. ESS commentator Alan Wilkins will present Best Of The Day. This will have highlights of the day’s play with an interactive analysis by Geoffrey Boycott and Ravi Shastri.
The analysis will take the sessions one after the other. This will be telecast on Star Sports at 8 pm and will be repeated on ESPN at 11:30 pm. The first test is played from 8-12 October and the second from 16-20 October. This will be followed by a triangular series involving Australia as well. What plans ESS has up its sleeve regarding that remains to be seen.
Of course viewers can catch live action on Doordarshan. The rights for India cricket will shortly be coming up for grabs. Besides DD Sahara is also said to be a hot contender on account of its close proximity to the team.
