NEW DELHI: 93.5 RED FM says it has emerged the most popular radio station in Delhi with three of its programmes dominating the top spots among listeners.
The FM station from the India Today group cites a study conducted by Development and Research Services (DRS) that places its Good Morning Delhi programme as the top rated weekday show on the capital's airwaves.
On weekends RED goes one better with Ameen Sayani's Sangeet ke sitaron ki mehfil and Shamshir Rai Luthra's Tope hits taking up the Top 2 slots.
The number two slot on weekdays has been taken up by Hello Dilli with Nitin on Radio Mirchi. On the weekends, the number three programme is My 98.3 on Radio Mirchi, closely followed by Meenakshi Rani's Mirchi Morning, also on the same station.
While previous studies have gone with the assumption that brands with a higher recall value have larger number of listeners, the DRS has assessed the actual number of listeners of programmes to arrive at a conclusion, says a RED FM release. Thus, although a station itself might have a higher recall amongst the listeners, it still might not translate into listenership. Another key finding of the DRS study was that contrary to the popular belief that FM radio has an audience predominantly in the 'in-car' category, it is in fact the 70 per cent of 'at-home' category that sums up the main audience.
The survey, conducted between 20 June and 22 July, was based on a research methodology taking a sample size of 1,010 respondents spread through Delhi, and in the age group of 18 to 45.
