MUMBAI: Fun at circus could be the theme of the new launches on the tube next week.
Though not as hi- key as this week, coming weeks launches have specific genres to cater: kids and comedy. While Zee is launching 'masti band' comprising new launches Jooth Bole Kauwwa Kaate and The Magic Make-up Box, Star Plus will launch a Balaji soap Kahiin To Hoga and Star World is launching sitcom Just Shoot Me.
Produced by Film and Shots production, Jooth Bole Kauwwa Kaate is a fantasy show which will air on 6 September at 10 am, every Sunday morning. Starring cute Shreya, Rohini Hatangadi, Jiten Lalwani, Lata Sabharwal and Deven Bhojwani, the show is based on how kids can say darnest things putting the parents in embarrassing situations.
Next launch in the 'masti band' is In House production's The Magic Makeup Box, scheduled to debut on 6 September at 10:30 am.
The show revolves around the fantastic, strange and comical adventures of a curious young boy and his friends who by chance discover a magical make-up box that helps them transform into any character be it of past, present or future. Directed by Himanshu Khurana the show stars Gufi Paintal as Brithari, Shweta Makdee Prasad as Maya, Dhairya Oza as Abhay and Aditya as Sikander
After gap of two years, Star Plus will be launching, new daily soap from Balaji Telefilms called Kahiin To Hoga.. The Youth centric daily launches 8 September at 11 pm replacing Kaahiin Kissii Roz which is nudged forward to the 11:30 pm slot.
Kahiin... is a story of five sisters- Kashish (Aamna Shariff), Kanan (Kusmit Sana), Mouli (Ashlesha Savant whose 'death' in Kyunki... recently created a sensation of sorts), Mehek (Poonam Joshi) and Charu (Mitra Joshi) each with a different personality. Kashish is hardworking and principled, Kanan is an absolute simpleton, Mauli is a hep rebel, Mehek is dreamy and Charu is a perfect tomboy.
Born in a middle class family to a professor, the young girls are loved, cared and well looked after by their elder sister Kashish - who never sacrifices on self respect.
Directed by Anil Kumar, other main cast of Kahiin ... includes Deepak Parasher, Rohit Bakshi, Rajeev Khandelwal and Shabbir Ahluwalia.
Star World has planned a slew of shows to launches in coming weeks. Next on the channel agenda is Just Shoot Me, a critically acclaimed ensemble comedy and perennial US top-ten series, slot to premier on Monday, 8 September at 7:30 pm.
Nominated for six Emmys and five Golden Globes (including best comedy), the sitcom is set in the New York editorial office of a fictional magazine 'Blush'. The ensemble cast includes Laura San Giacomo (Sex, Lies and Videotape), George Segal (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), David Spade (Saturday Night Live), Wendie Mallick and Enrico Colantoni.
The half-hour comedy focuses on the strained father-daughter relationship between Maya Gallo (San Giacomo), an accomplished journalist with a razor-sharp sarcastic wit, and her estranged father, Jack (Segal), a chronic womanizer who is also the successful publisher of Blush, a fluffy women's fashion magazine that Maya detests.
At the office, Maya struggles to hold her own among her new co-workers, including the beauty & fashion editor, Nina Van Horn (Mallick), a biting and pretentious ex-model who's going through middle-age crisis Blush's in-house fashion photographer and ogler of beautiful women Elliott DiMauro (Colantoni) and her father's power-crazy right-hand man, Dennis Finch (Spade).
Also making a low key debut on the channel isTwo Guys Girls And A Pizza Place, a prequel to the Two Guys and a Girl . The show launches on Monday 8 September at 4:30 pm.
An ABC production, which premiered in March 1998, the show is about two roommates named Pete and Berg who are both college students and they work at a pizza place owned by Bill. Their longtime friend Sharon lives upstairs and works for a chemical company. The show was renamed as Two Guys And A Girl in the fall of 1999. The cast include Ryan Reynolds as Berg, Richard Ruccolo as Pete and Traylor Howard as Sharon.
