MUMBAI: Twenty-four-hour news and information network CNN International has been named the 'Cable and Satellite Channel of the Year' at the 8th Asian TV Awards ceremony, held in Singapore recently.
 
 
The regional industry event also honored CNN's BizAsia team for producing the 'Best Business News Programme.'

A company release quoted CNN Asia Pacific's senior vice president Ian Macintosh as saying, "We are delighted that the efforts of CNN's team of professionals here in Asia have been recognised by our peers in the industry."

In the Asia Pacific, CNN produces prime time morning and evening news and business programmes from its regional headquarters in Hong Kong. Some of its interesting shows include News Biz Today, Asia Now and Talk Asia.

Television Asia magazine's Asian TV Awards is an annual regional award programme covering 15 Asian countries and judged by an international jury. This year, it is said to have attracted more than 1,800 entries for a total of 29 award categories.
