MUMBAI: Tamil language channel Vijay TV has managed to rope in ace serial producer Aaba Vannan, known for the immensely popular Ganga Jamuna Saraswati (GJS)on Sun TV, to make a mega scale serial that commences on Vijay on 28 October.
Vijay has managed a coup of sorts by getting GJS director Ishwar Murthy to direct its new venture, while the music has also been composed by Vannan himself. Slated to be a daily soap that will air Mondays to Fridays at 9 pm, Chambha is a family drama that will thrive on reunion and revenge on a backdrop of grand locales, slick visuals and plenty of action.
Chambha's story revolves around the life of a young couple (one from the south and one from Rajasthan) who fall in love and get married in spite of protests and opposition from relatives and society. The twists and turns that life takes thereon, their emotions and experiences, make for the storyline.
The serial is shot in Rajasthan and interior Tamil Nadu, thus providing a larger than life feel to the product. Visually stunning locales form the mainstay of the serial, claims Vijay. Noted South Indian film stars Seetha, Sarath Babu, Manorama and Mani Vannan are expected to make up the star cast of the show.
Vannan, who Vijay hopes will replicate his success with GJS (the show averaged TRPs of 15 and above) has produced over 1000 episodes of content for television along with making several popular movies.
