MUMBAI: Tamil satellite channel Jaya TV has said it will broadcast live legendary Indian composer, singer-songwriter, and music producer AR Rahman?s concert on 29 December at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.

The concert will be telecast on Jaya TV during Pongal (14, 15 and 17 January). The channel will also telecast a two-hour special t?te-?-t?te with A R Rahman on 13 November.

Apart from the concert, Jaya TV is giving a lifetime opportunity to the singing talents from Tamil Nadu to participate in a talent hunt, where 10 lucky participants stand a chance to perform at the concert with A R Rahman. Jaya TV will telecast this statewide search as three episodes of half-hour.

Jaya TV Network VP K. P. Sunil said, ?It?s been a long time since Rahman?s last performance in Chennai and we are delighted to be the official broadcasters of this much-awaited concert. He has redefined contemporary Indian music. He is a global phenomenon with a massive fan following especially in his home-town, Chennai. The excitement levels around the concert have already reached a crescendo. We are building a complete festival on the entire Jaya TV network."

Hailed as "the Mozart of Madras" and the first Indian to win two Oscars, Rahman will be performing in Chennai after four years. The organisers are expecting more than 12000 audiences for the ground event.

?The market response towards the concert has been overwhelming. Advertisers are looking at this a great opportunity with ground benefits and on-air build up and telecast. The Network has been investing extensively on new programming within the genres of Fiction, Games Shows and Events. The advertisers are positively disposed towards the network?s investment in fresh content,? said Aidem Ventures Director Vikas Khanchandani.
