    MUMBAI: Ten Sports has acquired the broadcast rights for Tour de France till 2016 in the Indian subcontinent.

    The channel has acquired the rights for all forms of free to air and pay television, DTH and IPTV transmission, pay per view and VOD from Amaury Sport Organisation.

    Ten Sports will be the exclusive rights holder for the Indian subcontinent with the exception of rights being shared with the pan regional broadcaster Eurosport in Sri Lanka.

    Ten Sports CEO Atul Pande said, ?We are proud to be associated with anevent as esteemed as Tour de France, especially at a time when it ishaving its 100th edition in 2013. This long term relationship withTour de France will bring in much delight to our viewers who crave high adrenaline bicycle racing.?

    The 2013 Tour de France will be the 100th edition. It is scheduled to start on 29 June in Corsica, in the city of Porto-Vecchio.

    The island will host the first three stages. Corsica is the only Metropolitan department which the Tour has never passed through and the organisers wanted to combine the 100th edition of the Tour with the Tour?s first ever visit to Corsica.

    The 2013 Tour de France includes total of 21 stages in the race, covering a total of 3,360 kilometers (2,088 miles). The Tour will be the first to be completed only on French soil for decades. It will feature a final set of stages which have been described as "spectacular", including three Alpine stages in the last week along with a time trial. These include a double ascent of l?Alpe d?Huez. This is the first time the tour will feature a double climb of this scale. There will be seven flat stages, five hilly stages, six mountain stages (with four summit finishes), two individual time trial stages and one team time trial stage.

    The race will finish at dusk in Paris.

    MUMBAI: Taj Television has acquired the media rights for Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games for Indian subcontinent which includes markets like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives.

    The media rights package includes both free-to-air and subscription television rights, along with internet, mobile and radio rights. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

    As part of the deal, Taj TV will promote the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games across all of its network channels and carry extensive live coverage on Ten Sports.

    Taj TV will also work with the national free-to-air broadcasters in each country enabling them to broadcast highlights of the 17 sports on show across the 11 days of competition at Glasgow 2014.

    Taj TV is the company under which Zeel?s sports broadcasting business operates which includes Ten Sports, Ten Cricket, Ten Action+, Ten Golf and Ten HD.

    Glasgow 2014 will be the biggest multi-sport event Scotland has ever hosted and around 4,500 athletes from 71 nations will take part in the Games.

    The sale of broadcast right packages around the globe is a key part of Glasgow 2014?s commercial programme which aims to raise ?100million in revenue through licensing, merchandise and ticketing.

    "A key aim of Glasgow 2014 is to ensure as many people as possible across the world can share the experience of an outstanding Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the sporting achievements of thousands of great athletes from across the world," he added.

    MUMBAI: Zeel-owned sports broadcast network Taj Television has renewed its partnership with IMG Reliance for the 18th edition of the Chennai Open as the exclusive official broadcast partner.

    Chennai Open, India?s only ATP World Tour stop, will be televised on Taj TV-owned Ten Sports in India. The sports broadcaster will provide comprehensive coverage of the event from 31 December through to 6 January.

    Said Ten Sports CEO Atul Pande on the association, ?Tennis has a huge fan following across the region and our association with the Chennai Open will give a fantastic opportunity to millions of tennis fans to experience thrilling tennis action from the comfort of their homes.?
