NEW DELHI: Former Doordarshan news anchor and TV personality Rahul Dev has joined Zee News as advisor from yesterday.
Zee News sources confirmed the developments, saying, to begin with, Dev's designation would be advisor for election coverage, which "could be changed" later to give him a sense of permanence.
With Dev joining, Zee News is looking at strengthening its election coverage, an event that generally turns into a bonanza for news channels in India. Having consolidated its position up certain extent, company sources said, now Zee News is looking at having a shot at the top slot, which is still occupied by Aaj Tak. Dev has also done a stint with TV Today Network when Aaj Tak was news and current affairs show on Doordarshan metro and had anchored the show for some months after SP Singh's demise.
After Aaj Tak, Dev has been dabbling with projects on DD.
A print medium journalist, Dev has also worked in newspapers like The Pioneer in Lucknow. For sometime, he was also the resident editor of Jansatta newspaper, the Hindi sibling of Indian Express.
