MUMBAI: MTV US' next film will revolve around vampires. After a heated bidding war MTV Films and Maverick Films have acquired the film rights to Twilight. The book will be released next year.
The film will be released through MTV's sister company Paramount. Both are owned by Viacom. This is the first time that MTV and Maverick have come together.
Set in a high school Twilight tells the story of Bella, who falls in love with a vampire. This leads a rival vampire clan to pursue the couple and forcing her to decide if she, too, wishes to become one of the undead.
Los Angeles based Maverick Films was founded by pop icon Madonna and Guy Oseary three years ago. Their latest production Agent Cody Banks II starring Frankie Muniz for MGM was released in the US on Friday.
