'Titanic' stars DiCaprio, Winslet to reunite in BBC film
MUMBAI: The stars of the Oscar winning blockbuster Titanic Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio will re-unite to make Revolutionary Road. BBC Films is teaming up with Oscar winning director Sam Mendes American Beauty and DreamWorks for the film which will be based on the novel by Richard Yates.
In the film a young couple find themselves torn between their own desires and the pressure to conform, with explosive consequences. BBC Films head David Thompson says, "Having bought the rights to the book and developed it, we could not be more delighted at the way this film has come together.
" This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance. To be working with such outstanding talent from both sides of the Atlantic is particularly exciting, and is very much in line with our strategy of attracting world class talent to BBC Films' projects as well as giving opportunities to new talent."
Production will start this summer in the US with Paramount handling worldwide distribution. Other reecnt BBC Films' productions include Scarlett Johannson, Natalie Portman and Eric Bana in Justin Chadwick's The Other Boleyn Girl; Naomi Watts and Viggo Mortensen in David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises; Catherine Zeta-Jones and Guy Pearce in Gillian Armstrong's Death Defying Acts.
